A practical guide to creating your entry-level digital product
AND -- 80+ topics and digital product formats that can build trust and lead to higher-ticket clients
The digital products industry hasn’t died but it is changing. The way we sell digital products is changing. The way we consume digital products is changing (hello substack!)
I do believe people are still willing to invest in digital products, higher-ticket services, and courses but only IF they trust you and know you’ll deliver results.
But they’re being more careful about where they invest their hard earned dollars. They want to trust you first. They want to see that you deliver. They are sick of overhyped fluffy webinars that deliver no value. They are sick of the age old “give the what but not the how” advice we all learned back in the day.
I believe the new approach is about genuine value at every level.
In this article. I’m going to show you how to create an entry-level digital product offer that makes people say, “Wow, I can’t believe I got that much for $97.”
Then watch them naturally progress to your bigger offers—not because you pushed them or offered them a “limited time bonus!”, but because they already trust you and want more.

Do you want to be ahead of a lot of people selling digital products in the nutrition industry? Read this article!
Many are still using the “traditional” or old way of doing things. And I’ve analyzed Facebook posts & listened to real digital products buyers — to hear what makes digital products feel DEAD right now and what makes people hesitant to buy them.
Just check out some of these comments (real market research I did for my presentation on this topic to the Nutritional Therapy Association)….
PS - I’ve learned more from some $27 digital products than $3000 courses. Specifically because they were an action packed / tangible process that was manageable.
What’s still true with digital products:
The digital products industry is going through a massive shift right now. And we need to talk about it.
It’s easier than ever to create and sell digital products (thanks to technology and AI)
People understand what digital products are (there is no need to educate them on the concept anymore! They get it!)
Online learning isn’t going anywhere
What’s changed:
People are drowning in free information. With AI, anyone can get “the how” for free. People don’t need to pay for tips and information anymore. Free tips are everywhere! Open Instagram, YouTube, Substack, and AI and you’ll find a bajillion free tips. People aren’t paying big money for free tips.
Attention spans are shorter. Nobody has time for fluffy 90-minute webinars that are really just sales pitches, or vague “teaser” content that withholds the good stuff.
People have been burned in the past (from 2020-2025). They’ve invested in courses that underwhelm and overpromise. They’re more skeptical than ever of where their money goes (not to mention they aren’t spending as freely).
Withheld information feels manipulative. Saving all your good information for higher ticket items is keeping people from investing more.
Faceless marketing and “white label” get-rich-quick schemes have flooded the space, making people crave genuine connection, community, and real substance over hype (again… that’s why Substack is taking off. People WANT long-form content and deeper connection over flashy reels).
Your digital product should not be a “one off” sale. Instead, think of it as a strategic pathway (a stepping stone that leads to your bigger offers, programs, and higher ticket clients).
TIER 1: Entry-Level Digital Product ($47-$197 or $9/month)
Purpose: A low-risk way to experience your teaching and build trust. It fits in most people’s budgets & they don’t need a lot of time to think it over.
TIER 2: Mid-Tier Digital Product ($200-$799)
Purpose: Adds support, implementation, access, or community
Format: Everything from Tier 1 PLUS live elements and feedback (you can even build upon tier one to create a natural flow from product 1 to product 2).
TIER 3: Premium Package or Product ($800-$3,000+)
Purpose: Deep transformation with personalized support and 1:1 time
Format: Done-with-you program, 1:1 coaching, VIP experiences, signature method or course
Why This Strategy Works:
→ Reduces risk - A $97 purchase is easy to say yes to compared to $2,000
→ Increases your confidence - You know the pathway will lead to more clients eventually, so you’re confident selling it and it doesn’t feel random talking about your digital products.
→ Natural progression - It naturally leads to higher-ticket offers without pressure tactics
→ Improves conversion rates - People who’ve experienced results from your entry product are far more likely to invest bigger. It’s easier to convert someone who’s already bought from you. You don’t need to find a new buyer for your higher programs.
But here is the important part. YOUR ENTRY LEVEL PRODUCT NEEDS TO GENUINELY OVER DELIVER. Not at an attempt to sell your higher ticket but to genuinely give value at that price point.
Here’s what overdelivering does NOT mean:
❌ Teaching them everything you know in one product
❌ A 55-module course covering every possible topic
❌ Information overload with no clear path forward
❌ Throwing in bonus after bonus to justify the price
❌ Giving them a PhD in your topic
Overdelivering means:
→ Going DEEP on ONE specific, targeted outcome
→ Less “information” and more “watch me do the exact steps”
→ NOT holding back the good stuff or gatekeeping
→ Taking out all the fluff and filler—give them the juicy details
→ Showing them the exact steps or process, not just theory
→ Actually helping them get results on that specific problem
→ Giving them BOTH the what AND the how
→ Being real and deep—not something they can get from AI
→ Letting your personal story shine with anecdotes and real examples
→ Beautiful design with great value for the price
This streamlined digital products strategy will build your confidence in your business & offers…
When your product pathway is streamlined, it transforms how you talk about your work:
You can share freely about your offers because:
You know it will lead to higher conversions with your 1:1 clients
You have a clear, defined path (no more feeling scattered)
You don’t feel “salesy” when you mention it in every newsletter or Stories
You’re genuinely helping people get started at a lower barrier to entry (more people can find your work and benefit from it)
You’re giving them a chance to trust your approach before investing more
You know you’re overdelivering without just dumping information
Questions to ask yourself:
Action steps:
Record explanations you’re giving anyway
Create “pre-work” content for new clients
Document the unique insights that come from YOUR lived experience
Where are you having the most success?
What transformations happen most reliably?
What do people need to understand first?
Keep a running list of topics you explain repeatedly (to friends or clients)
Note which handouts you send to every client
Track questions that come up in every session
What are the breakthrough concepts, perspective shifts, lightbulb realizations.
What do you know from experience that AI doesn’t know?
Entry-level digital product alternatives to the $7 Canva PDF Guide
There’s nothing wrong with slapping a $7 Canva PDF on your website & hoping it will sell. But first off, it takes a LOT of $7 sales to make significant income AND they may never open it or work with you as a client.
So if you’re not getting sales and want a more strategic approach, here are some ideas.
These are certainly more effort upfront than a generic PDF, but these create sustainable income, build trust, AND create a pathway to your bigger programs:
→ 45-minute workshop working through a specific problem
→ Masterclass on a targeted topic
→ Paid audio summit with start/end date (forces implementation)
→ Paid Substack articles, guides, and templates
→ Paid podcast series
→ Cooking demos or batch prep sessions
→ Monthly meal plans
→ Lab test interpretation guides
→ Quick-win programs (3-7 days)
→ Paid seasonal challenges or resets
→ Breaking your current course into smaller mini-courses (basic → intermediate → advanced)

If you can get even more specific — amazing!
Whittle the information down to a specific process you can walk them through

What Makes These Ideas Work
Notice the patterns in successful product ideas:
✓ Specific - Not “hormone health” but “perimenopausal sleep routine”
✓ Practical - Actionable steps, not just education
✓ Personal - “How I...” or “My...” makes it authentic and unique
✓ Results-oriented - Clear outcome in the title
✓ Time-bound - When relevant, includes timeline (15 minutes, under 2 hours, etc.)
✓ Solves ONE thing - Doesn’t try to fix everything at once
